Our world is full of amazing mysteries, and one of them, still unsolved to this day, concerns kissing. The overwhelming majority of us close our eyes while kissing. Only a few enjoy watching their partner’s reaction during a kiss. Scientists and psychologists continue to conduct research to explain the reason for this.
As a result of experiments, many interesting features have been revealed. Among them is the fact that by closing our eyes when kissing, we literally protect our brain from overload. Otherwise, many of us would faint from an excess of emotions. And this is no joke! AdmiGram.com shares what scientists and psychologists have learned about kissing.

Today, there are three most confirmed theories as to why we close our eyes while kissing:
- The first reason: instinctive behavior. Eyelids lower spontaneously, thus protecting the person’s mind from an excess of emotions. During a kiss, a person’s brain experiences sensory overload. To relieve this overload, the body subconsciously resorts to closing the eyes.
- The second reason: during a kiss, our vision cannot focus on nearby objects. We subconsciously close our eyes because our brain has no desire to examine the blurred face of our partner. In this case, we can only see blurry, unpleasant contours of the face. When our eyes are closed, our brain paints more pleasant pictures.
- The third reason: the brain cannot simultaneously focus on visual and tactile contact. Moreover, tactile contact is much more pleasant than visual contact. Therefore, we prefer tactile contact, freeing up the necessary resources to make it even more enjoyable.
Kiss and hug more often! After all, it feels truly great!
