The most famous and photographed landmarks in Liguria are the Cinque Terre National Park and the little gem of Italian lifestyle, the town of Varigotti, located in the western part of this region.
This picturesque place was first introduced to the world by the Italian photographer Giovanni Allievi, who, in the early 2000s, published a series of landscape photographs of this extraordinarily beautiful town on his blog.

With time, these lands found themselves caught between the hammer and the anvil: Saracen pirates and the noble lineage of the Del Carretto family in the 12th century did not allow the residents of these lands to live in peace. Varigotti only gained true freedom and autonomy after the French Revolution.

The houses on the beach in the village are the most photogenic objects in Varigotti, especially when the sea is stormy. It’s worth stopping to admire the numerous architectural details. At a short distance from the village, various perspectives open up.
If you want to avoid less photogenic sunbeds and umbrellas, skip the season from March to September. Weekends can be quite crowded here, at least when the weather is sunny.

The extensive area covering Varigotti is known as Finalese. The name is connected to the small town of Finale Ligure, which is widely known among European climbers and outdoor enthusiasts. These lands are famous for their beauty, mild climate, excellent conditions for rock climbing, and hiking. Moreover, you can capture stunning photos here.
