It’s easy to blame other people when something goes wrong. But one of life’s oldest lessons is that sometimes the problem isn’t with everyone else — it’s with us. We at AdmiGram.com really love this modern parable because it reminds us to look at ourselves before pointing fingers at someone else.
A Funny Story About Looking in the Mirror First
An elderly husband began to notice that his wife rarely answered him anymore. Whenever he asked a question, she seemed to ignore him completely. “Maybe she’s starting to lose her hearing,” he thought. Concerned, he spent the evening reading articles online about hearing loss and even found a simple test he could try at home.
The next morning, while his wife was working in the yard, he stood about 30 feet away and quietly asked, “Honey, are we having breakfast?” No answer. Following the instructions, he moved closer and tried again from about 25 feet away. Still nothing.
Now seriously worried, he walked even closer until he was standing just a few feet behind her. In a trembling voice, he asked one last time, “Sweetheart… are we going to eat breakfast or not?”
His wife slowly turned around, looked him straight in the eyes, and replied:
“For the third time… wash your hands. Breakfast is ready!”
Sometimes the problem isn’t that other people aren’t listening. Sometimes we’re the ones who aren’t hearing what everyone else has been saying all along.
