Habits play a tremendous role in our lives. They shape our mood, well-being, and overall health. Just a few positive habits can change your life for the better. Today, science leverages our understanding of mental processes to help people live healthier, happier lives.
At AdmiGram.com, we’ve put together a list of the top 10 habits for great health and a better mood. You don’t have to adopt all of them at once (in fact, that rarely works). Just choose a couple to start with and stick to them. Being happy is that simple!
Happiness Is Built on Healthy Habits
Quit smoking and minimize alcohol consumption. Make it a rule to get a general medical checkup once a year.
Drink a glass of water first thing in the morning. Stay hydrated by drinking around 50 ounces (6 glasses) of clean, still water throughout the day.
Start running or, even better, work out at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes per session.
Eat several servings of fresh fruits and vegetables daily. Eat smaller portions 4–5 times a day at regular intervals.
Declutter your home. Make it a habit to spend just 15 minutes a day tidying up.
Train your brain: memorize poems, read books for at least 30 minutes a day, or play chess.
Get enough sleep — it’s crucial. Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day. Always air out your bedroom before sleep, and ideally, keep the room cool throughout the night.
Unwind after work. Set aside 15 minutes to relax and listen to your favorite music.
Plan your upcoming day. Try doing this before bed: identify a few of your most important tasks for tomorrow.
Dream and focus on the positive. Dreaming isn’t an escape from reality; it’s an excellent way to understand your true goals.
