Habits play a tremendous role in our lives. They can shape our mood, well-being, and even our health. Just a few beneficial and right habits can change our lives for the better. Today, science uses knowledge about mental processes to enable people to live right and be happy.

  • Quit smoking and reduce alcohol consumption to a minimum. Make it a rule to undergo a general medical examination once a year.
  • Drink a glass of water in the morning before breakfast. Consume an adequate amount of water, around 1.5 liters (3 US pt lqd) a day. Water should be clean and non-carbonated.
  • Start running or, even better, engage in sports at least 3 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time.
  • Eat several servings of fresh fruits or vegetables every day. Eat in small portions 4-5 times a day at the same time.
  • Get rid of all the clutter in your home. Make it a habit to spend 15 minutes a day cleaning your home.
  • Train your brain: memorize poems, read books daily, at least for 30 minutes a day, and play chess.
  • Get enough sleep. It’s very important. Learn to go to bed and wake up at the same time. Always ventilate the room before sleep. And ideally, not just before sleep. Sleep in a cool room.
  • After returning from work, allocate 15 minutes for relaxation while listening to your favorite pleasant music.
  • Learn to plan your upcoming day. Try to do it before bedtime: identify a few most important tasks to accomplish.
  • Dream and think only about good things. Dreams are not an escape from reality but an excellent means to understand your true goals.
